SAN FRANCISCO -- A true Cancer Bomb is the Holy Grail of the US Military. Bingo! The Dense Inert Metal Explosive bomb with a carbon fiber shell is a real contender for the coveted military title of The Cancer Bomb.

The carbon fiber shell turns to dust, though, it is still deadly. It does not add sharp irregular pieces of metal or plastic shrapnel to the blast.

The DIME innards, or ballast, are the contribution of the US Air Force Research Labs and the Lawrence Livermore Nuclear Weapons Lab (the Lab.) They have been on the hunt for an ill-defined Cancer Bomb for 65 years.

The DIME bomb results look like a “Bingo” for the Air Force and the Lab. It will do what it is supposed to do -- kill a lot of people -- and take the international spotlight/PR heat off of the always useful, long acting, population destroying uranium oxide based munitions.

The DIME bomb or Cancer Bomb’s claim to fame is a near universal development of cancer, the Big C, by those civilians exposed to the tungsten, nickel, cobalt, iron and any “Magic Metal” ingredients in the on-board ballast. Of course, any grunts who might come in contact with the GBU-39s insides are high cancer probables, too.

The utterly spectacular result from the Bomb Innards Study is that all, as in 100 percent of the exposed rats, developed a fast growing, aggressive cancer in their muscles with a long, hard to pronounce name called “rhabdomyosarcomas.” The doctors tell us that it is detectable as a hard knot in muscle tissue. It’s aggressive and it kills you.

This is no small thing. A finding of 100 percent cancer in the studied rat population is rare indeed. If any grunts reading this were at or near any points where the GBU-39s were used, you or your honey had better be checking you out for hard knots in your muscles. Yea, it could be anywhere.

Of special note is the simple fact that the study’s authors did not say “no other cancers were found in the target population of rats.” Maybe there were, maybe there were not. We’ll try to find out and report back to you in another article to follow up this one.

DIME Bomb Questions

The big time research questions are: What other cancers does this stuff cause? What happens to human cells when the 100 percent Cancer Bomb’s guts are mixed with radiation from tiny vitrificated uranium oxide particles?

Or, F344 rat’s cells?

As the WWII RW Committee (Radiation Warfare, formerly the WWI Poison Gas Committee) member said of irradiated South Pacific Islanders: “ . . . humans are better than lab rats [for subjects] . . .” . . . grunts count, too.

Embedded Weapons-Grade Tungsten Alloy Shrapnel Rapidly Induces Metastatic High-Grade Rhabdomyosarcomas in F344 Rats

Continuing concern regarding the potential health and environmental effects of depleted uranium and lead has resulted in many countries adding tungsten alloy (WA)-based munitions to their battlefield arsenals as replacements for these metals. Because the alloys used in many munitions are relatively recent additions to the list of militarily relevant metals, very little is known about the health effects of these metals after internalization as embedded shrapnel. Previous work in this laboratory developed a rodent model system that mimicked shrapnel loads seen in wounded personnel from the 1991 Persian Gulf War.

In the present study, we used that system and male F344 rats, implanted intramuscularly with pellets (1 mm × 2 mm cylinders) of weapons-grade WA, to simulate shrapnel wounds. Rats were implanted with 4 (low dose) or 20 pellets (high dose) of WA. Tantalum (20 pellets) and nickel (20 pellets) served as negative and positive controls, respectively.

The high-dose WA-implanted rats (n = 46) developed extremely aggressive tumors surrounding the pellets within 4–5 months after implantation. The low-dose WA-implanted rats (n = 46) and nickel-implanted rats (n = 36) also developed tumors surrounding the pellets but at a slower rate. Rats implanted with tantalum (n = 46), an inert control metal, did not develop tumors. Tumor yield was 100 percent in both the low- and high-dose WA groups. The tumors, characterized as high-grade pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcomas by histopathology and immunohistochemical examination, rapidly metastasized to the lung and necessitated euthanasia of the animal.

Significant hematologic changes, indicative of polycythemia, were also observed in the high-dose WA-implanted rats. These changes were apparent as early as 1 month postimplantation in the high-dose WA rats, well before any overt signs of tumor development. These results point out the need for further studies investigating the health effects of tungsten and tungsten-based alloys.

‘Green Warfare’ Reveals The Warped Priorities Of The Environmental Movement

Can a bullet, a bomb or a hand grenade ever be 'friendly'? Environmentalists seem to think so. Having 'greened' their homes, their eating habits and their fashion choices, eco-campaigners now want to 'green' warfare too.

They want to make the military obliteration of human life, the destruction of families, homes and towns through fire and fury, a more eco-friendly pursuit ­ one which will still kill and maim people, of course, but which won't cause too much damage to the surrounding soil or trees.

Last week, the 10:10 campaign group welcomed MBDA Missile Systems into its fold.

Founded by eco-filmmaker Franny Armstrong and backed by the Guardian, 10:10 is about encouraging individuals and organisations to reduce their carbon emissions by 10 per cent in 2010.

Schools, museums and football teams have signed up, and now so has one of the world's largest missile manufacturers, which has an average annual turnover of $2.7bn, makes more than 3,000 missiles a year, and deals with around 90 military forces around the globe.

The 10:10 organisers say they had a long and tortured debate about whether to accept MBDA. In the end they decided that they should, because the important thing is that MBDA "reduce their emissions by 10 per cent... What they do with the rest of their time is a different matter, on which we couldn't possibly comment."

In other words? All we're interested in is reducing emissions. You can make deadly weaponry; you can ship it around the world; you can sell it in war zones where it will be used to blow up things and people ­ just make sure you do it in an eco-responsible fashion. Destroy human life, by all means, but please do it sustainably.

MDBA Missiles Systems isn't alone. Over the past few years there has been a far-reaching debate about how to make war more eco-friendly.

In the US, the Pentagon is pumping millions of dollars into developing environmentally-friendly lead-free bullets that have a core of tungsten composite, tin or nylon, so that when they're fired, whether on the training range or the battlefield, no lead will seep into the soil or infect water supplies.

A spokesman for the Pentagon said the aim is to make a new kind of bullet "that can kill you or that you can shoot a target with, [but] which is not an environmental hazard".

Over here, BAE Systems, supported by the MoD, has developed greener bullets and rockets. Its aim is to move away from lead-based, toxic munitions that "harm the environment". It has made armoured vehicles with lower carbon emissions, weaponry with fewer "volatile organic compounds" in them, and explosives that can be turned into compost once they have been used. Well, the people whose village has just been destroyed by a BAE-made explosive will no doubt be very grateful for the compost left behind. They can grow carrots.

The MoD insists that the "concept of green munitions is not a contradiction in terms". In its Sustainable Development and Environment Manual, published in 2005, it argued that "any system, whatever its ultimate use, can be designed to minimise its impact [on the] environment".

The development of green warfare really reveals the warped priorities and inner misanthropy of the environmentalist movement.

They have elevated Gaia's supposed interests so firmly above people's interests that we now have a situation where it's accepted that people can be killed, just so long as no soil, water or insects are harmed in the process. Welcome to the era of green barbarism.

Ships Of Poison

As reported in the Calabria daily newspaper “Calabria Ora” by director Paolo Pollichieni, 55 are the number of ships confirmed by Italian navy admiral and chief of Italian intelligence organization AISE (formerly SISMI), Bruno Branicoforte; 55 Ships containing a toxic and dangerous mix of radioactive and other industrial contaminants that were traded in the international traffic of the world’s hazardous wastes on the high seas. Others unofficially talk of upwards to 140 ships. Only NATO knows for sure but has not yet revealed this information to the public, and who knows if they ever will? Now these 55 ships, cargos of waste aboard and possibly seeping into the waters of the Mediterranean, are said to be lying on the sea floor, intentionally sunk across international waters over the past twenty years. Branicoforte made his affirmation to the Italian parliamentary committee for the Security of the Republic, Copsair on the 25th of September.

The threat to public health is alarming to the coastal population of Italy as it should be to all of the 23 countries that border the Mediterranean Basin. Health reports from the Region of Calabria show elevated cases of cancerous tumors, especially among the younger population along the coasts. The culprits of this International tragedy: organized criminal elements, the corporate producers of this waste and the government’s that knowingly allowed this contamination of the sea to unfold; are now gathering forces and talking of confirmations of these ships and a clean-up of the Sea.

The assessor of the Environment in the Region of Calabria Doctor Silvio Greco, a marine biologist, reminds us that the majority of these wastes came from Industries outside of Italy. This makes it again clear that there must be an International effort monitored by citizen watchdog groups to contain the effects of this catastrophe. It is hard to trust those that made this mess in the first place to clean up this unthinkable man made disaster, but they may have the only means.

A ship from the Italian energy giant ENI is now in route from Cyprus to Calabria. As reported in the Calabrian daily il Quotidiano on the 8th of October, the vessel is specialized to verify the contents of the first ship to be photographed in the seas depths, 11 kilometers from Cetraro. ENI has offered the assistance of this vessel free of charge, recognizing the gravity of the situation. Another research vessel from the Italian environmental research institute called ISPRA is being retrofitted with special equipment to provide 3 dimensional images of the ship thought to be the Cunsky,

The regional fishing industry, especially around Cetraro, is being harshly affected and there is talk of public aid to families feeling the economic brunt from the crash in fish consumption. There is also concern about a blow to the tourism industry. This area is usually overrun with tourists during the month of August and many families here base their livelihoods around the tourist industry. Contaminated land from illegal dumping of hazardous wastes is also a large problem in this area and a threat to local agricultural practices, confounding an already ugly situation.

In Italy as a whole, Berlusconi and his harem of ministers continue to hold the public interest. Stefania Prestigiacomo, the young environmental minister from Sicily, said on the 7th of October that there will be every effort made on the part of the government to assess and clean up the situation in the Calabrian coastal waters near the towns of Cetraro, Fuscaldo, Guardia Piemontese, San Lucido and the cities of Paola, Diamante and Amantea on the Tyrennian Sea, where the first ship to be photographed lies off the coast. But nothing has yet been said by Prime Minister Berlusconi, President Napolitano or environmental minister Prestigiacomo about the other 54 ships confirmed by Admiral Branicoforte. Other regions beyond Calabria, including Tuscany, Basilicata and Campania, are asking for more action and communication from the Berlusconi government as Berlusconi himself has yet to address the issue publicly and Prestigiacomo has done so only sparingly. The opposition is accusing the government of negligent inaction, while Prestigiacomo says that she is doing all she can as she begins to break her silence on this global calamity.

The Berlusconi government is also under pressure to for it’s decision to bring back nuclear power to Italy. In 1987 Italians voted overwhelmingly against the use of nuclear power and existing plants were phased out by 1990. In 2008 the Berlusconi led government reversed this decision and announced a renewed investment in nuclear energy and a new generation of plants.

The recent landslides in the Sicilian province of Messina that caused the death of at least 21 people have combined with Berlusconi’s continuing legal saga and sex scandal to temporarily shift attention here from the Ships of Poison. The Landslides in Messina are seen as another result of the neglect of the South by the national government and abusive criminal practices in the Southern regions.

At the European level there is interest coming from the European Parliament to address the horrible reality coming to light here. The Calabrian Environmental Assessor Greco will lead an Italian delegation to Strausburg in order to further elaborate the gravity of this situation of the Ships of Poison to the European Community on the 20th of October.

Throughout the world there is growing attention and focus on this story while at the local level there is a mass mobilization underway. On the 24th of October organizers are planning an International day of action with a large demonstration in the small city of Amantea near the river Oliva. This area is largely seen here as ground zero for this horrid reality. Along the shores of Amantea in 1990, a ship called the Jolly Rosso, laiden with toxic and radioactive waste, beached ashore after a failed attempt to sink it off the coast. The contents of the Jolly Rosso were then dumped on land nearby. The area suffers from elevated deaths due to leucemia and cancerous tumors thought to be linked to findings of the highly toxic Cesium 137, Mercury and other poisonous substances contaminating the land, river and sea. On the 24th of October it is hoped that this situation will be given the attention it deserves and that a global cooperation may begin to heal the waters of our beautiful Mediterranean Sea. We hope this for our children and children’s children.

The Calabrian daily newspaper il Quoitidiano has created an on-line petition to call on the Italian government to move quickly to both assess and begin to address this International disaster. It calls on the Italian government to contain the damage from the radioactive waste at sea and on land. There have been an average of 2000 signatures a day from all over the world.
