The Olmert-Peretz Plan

Nehemia Shtrasler of Haaretz, Israel's most serious newspaper, today sheds light on the objective for Israel's invasion of Lebanon:


"The Olmert-Peretz plan was to shell and demolish South Lebanon and South Beirut until the Lebanese public demanded that its government vomit Hezbollah out from its midst.

It appears that like a number of the Israeli leaders, they did not understand how much killing, poverty and distress people are willing to take, as long as their honor is not harmed, as long as they are not humiliated.

And indeed, instead of demanding that Hezbollah be dismantled, the people of Lebanon want revenge, and they want it now.

That is their response to the killing of 750 civilians and the destruction of thousands of homes, bridges, roads, villages and towns, putting Lebanon 20 years in the past."


With a scorched earth policy being implemented against Lebanon, and a plan to coerce the Lebanese people through a campaign of terror and collective punishment, it is absolutely deceptive and outrageous to claim that the continuous deaths of Lebanese civilians is not deliberate.

With the U.S. and U.K. giving Israel the green light to continue its murderous rampage in the Lebanese slaughterhouse, the orphans' and refugees fury will be felt for generations to come, by Israel and its backers in the West, who allowed it to continue perpetrating crimes against humanity without any interference, whatsoever.

The international community must recognize and lay the blame for the rise of anti-Western sentiment, radicalization and terrosism in the Middle East and the world, squarely on the shoulders of the Olmert-Blair-Bush governments.

By giving Israel their blessings to destroy its northern neighbor, and refusing several calls for an immediate cease-fire, the above trio alone, bear full responsibility for the coming apocalyptic firestorm that will engulf us all.
