The platform of the new Palestinian government is a major "step backward" for peace prospects, and Israel will lobby the international community not to work with the coalition, a senior Israeli official said Thursday.

"Anyone who looks carefully at the document will see that there is a regression on a number of important issues," the official said in the first Israeli reaction to the completion of the Palestinian power-sharing deal late Wednesday.

He noted the platform's call for the return of Palestinian refugees to Israel and its affirmation of the Palestinian right of "resistance" against Israel.

"This is not a step forward. It's a step backward," he said.

Of course it's a step backward!

How can a unified Palestians be in the best interests of that Pariah State?

How can the demand for the Right of Return for the Palestinain Refugees who were Ethnically Cleansed from their land, be in the best interests of that Pariah State?

How can the God-Given Right, the Human Right, to Resist Israeli: Ethnic Cleansing, Deportations, Demolition of Homes, Murder & Targeted Assassination, Occupation, Oppression, Tyranny, be in the best interests of that Pariah State?

Only when a divided Palestinian people, who are consumed in a destructive civil war, will that Pariah State breathe a sigh of relief.

After all, isn't that Pariah State, and its sub-servient Bush Junta, inciting Fatah against Hamas?

Isn't that Pariah State, demanding that the Europeans boycott the newly formed Palestinian Unity Government?

Since when has that Pariah State, truly sought a Just and Lasting Peace?

That pariah State is only interested in the unconditional surrender and total subjugation of the Palestian people, and the Arabs as a whole.
