Profit before people
Greed before care
Are these some of the reasons
There's war in the air?

So much hatred
So much greed
With billions of people
We need to feed.

They starve in the gutters
With no where to go
Their homes lay in ruins
Their hopes gone also.

Babies and children
Orphaned and sick
Forgotten and dying
While we get rich quick.

From the time they emerge
From their mothers wombs
They know nothing but hardship
Til they go to their tombs.

They've no crumbs of comfort
Just distress and despair
Poverty and starvation
But what do we care?

They are only images
On our TV screens
In our newspapers
And in our bad dreams.

So we all close our eyes
Pretend we don't see
Get on with our lives
And Just think of me.
